Biometric Security for Trade Shows

Let’s say that you are working at a trade show. During a lull in the activity, you decide to go to grab something to eat or run to the bathroom. However, your company’s precious secrets are on your laptop and you don’t want to leave it unguarded. Are you willing to trust your data to password protection?

If you’re looking for a bit more security, there are several biometric security devices available that will give you the added piece of mind you’re looking for. The Targus Defcon Authenticator will only unlock the computer once it recognizes your thumbprint. If passwords are your thing but you can’t remember all of them and don’t trust your standard password manager, the APC biometric mouse/password manager may be what you’re looking for. It uses the same fingerprint identification to ensure that no one can access your list of magic words.

Corporate espionage is big business in the digital age. By taking just a few extra precautions, you can effectively safeguard your data while you’re working the tradeshow. After all, you should be able to take a break without worrying about the security of your computer.

Building a Business Website

Fifteen years ago, a small business was considered cutting edge if it had a webpage. It didn’t matter what was on the webpage, as long as the company name or logo was there somewhere. However, today a business often cannot survive without a webpage. The few thriving businesses that don’t have one are often looked upon as if something is wrong with them. But, with all this pressure to have a webpage, where do you turn for hosting?

There are a lot of services out there that small businesses and individuals can use to register a domain name. Probably the most famous of these is GoDaddy.com. Memorable thanks to their commercials with the attractive women (to make an understatement) and their very low prices on domain names, GoDaddy has also its Business Solution, which allows helps you through every step of the webpage creation and customization process.

GoDaddy is not the only one offering this service. Similar services can be obtained through Apple MoblieMe, Yahoo! Small Business, and Homestead QuickSites. Having a website for your business is almost mandatory in the 21st century. These services will allow the most novice computer user to get a business site up and running.

Apricorn Aegis Mini – Carry Your Presentation in Your Pocket

People that travel around from trade show to trade show setting up and tearing down display booths must love modern technology. Everything is getting smaller and lighter, which is good news for your back and bad news for your chiropractor. For those that like to keep their presentations stored on a separate drive, Apricorn had you in mind when they designed the Aegis Mini.

Thumb drives tend to be limited in their storage capacity and spinning hard drives can be large and cumbersome by comparison. Finally, there is a melding of the two. The Aegis Mini is an external hard drive that’s about the size of a deck of playing cards. Weighing in at just under 4 ounces, it’s certainly not going to add any appreciable weight to your bag, but it holds 160GB.
When you travel a lot or have to set up and tear down your display quickly, you know that size and weight play considerable factors. Data storage doesn’t have to be a concern anymore.
